Sat Kelley
I went into dentistry because I wanted to make a positive difference to the quality of a person’s life.
I realised very quickly in my career how difficult it was to be a patient and how you place your trust wholeheartedly in us. Never to take that level of trust for granted, my aim was to be able to make your experience as pleasant as possible; to reduce your level of anxiety, together with the wish of altering your perception of how a visit to the dentist should be.
Since qualifying in 1991, I have spent years educating myself worldwide with the necessary skills to deliver painless dentistry and I feel great pride and contentment that my dream is being fulfilled. This does not mean that I rest on my laurels, far from it. Lifelong learning, continued skill development, team and self-growth all for the benefit of my patients are a passion of mine and I do not consider it an inconvenience to spend weekends on courses, how else do we improve?
My mission is therefore to deliver painless, anxiety-free, quality dentistry with the overall aim of helping you to maintain and keep your teeth for ever. By increasing your comfort, confidence, health and happiness, I hope to make a visit to the dentist a less unpleasant thought for you and your family.
Away from dentistry and teeth I love being a parent and spending time with my 3 boys. It is a joy to see them develop and I hope to pass on some life skills along the way.
Joanna Keetarut
Sat and I set up the practice together back in 2005. It was our dream to create a calm and gentle atmosphere where patients and their families were happy and comfortable. I graduated from the University of Sheffield back in 2001, and have always continued to keep up to date on all the latest techniques and methods.
I regularly attend courses, constantly learning new ideas and taking a particular interest in aesthetic dentistry and advanced restorative techniques. Getting to know my patients and their families on an individual level is very important to me. Many of whom have seen me get married and have my three beautiful boys during our time at Heath Dental.
I enjoy all aspects of dentistry, but find cosmetic cases particularly rewarding – some of which have been used in international presentations. As a result of this passion, I have achieved full accreditation in the CFast tooth straightening system, and in facial aesthetics in order to offer our patients a fully versatile range of treatment options.
Before starting work at Heath Dental, I spent a few months out in the Amazon basin Brazil, volunteering at a dental clinic, providing much needed care for those less fortunate than ourselves. It was an amazing and most rewarding experience.
I am lucky enough to be involved with a similar trip, this time to a remote village in Morocco. I will be joined this time by our clinical manager Michelle Reid, and one of our hygienists Nicole Coomber. Our patients have been amazing in helping to raise lots of money to help provide this clinic with some much needed equipment.
Outside of work, my world revolves around my boys, although once tucked up in bed, I do like a nice glass of wine and love fine dining! I recently did the wolf run, and as a glutton for punishment have agreed to do it again this year!
Sean Power
Sean has been part of the team at Heath Dental as an associate dentist since September 2006; working at the practice on Mondays and Thursdays.
After graduating from Birmingham University in 1998, Sean started his career working in a busy West Midlands practice, before moving on four years later to Boots Dentalcare, a private city centre practice. In early 2005 he took an opportunity to live and work in Melbourne, Australia, which gave him an invaluable experience of dentistry in a very different setting.
These various practice types have all helped him to gain broad experience in all aspects of general dentistry. He continues to build on this with regular attendance to courses and conferences, ensuring he keeps up-to-date with all the latest treatment approaches.
Sean has full accreditation to provide Six Month Smiles, alongside experience of invisible aligner braces since 2008. This enables him to offer aesthetic tooth straightening options which can totally transform your smile.
He also has special interest in Endodontics, which is more familiarly known as root canal treatment. He takes referrals for complicated cases, from his colleagues within the practice, as well as other dentists in the local area.
Outside of work Sean enjoys spending family time with his wife and son, reading, and keeping fit with running.
